We are excited to let you know that you can now use Amazon Elastic Transcoder for audio transcoding. This new feature lets you use Amazon Elastic Transcoder to transcode audio-only content like music or podcasts from one format to another. You can also use this new feature to create an audio-only alternate stream in an HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) file set, which is frequently needed to meet low bandwidth requirements for mobile applications.

AWSにてAET（Amazon Elastic Transcoder）サービスが開始されました。

Wikiをみてもらうとわかるのですが、音楽・音声データは乱立といっていいほどに様々な規格があり、ストリーミング等の形式で長そうにもいちいち変換する必要がありました。

そしてこの変換には、かなりのCPUパワーと時間を食うため、音楽ファイルの一本や二本程度であればPCでも十分でしたが、それなりの規模の変換を実現するには相当ハイグレードな設備を準備する必要がありました。

この部分を解決する、という話ですね。どうやら専用のWebインターフェイスも用意されるみたいですし、一本から利用できるみたいです。
